we are totally more apathatiec except for seven people most people just want to keep being creative and not really do any push ups or sit ups and art cuts are good because it means less bad art and more day jobs and a better economy and also better lattes and nervous breakdowns / hospitalization and then timothy findley novels will be written again but i’ll read your artical it sounds adventurous and lacking in pom-pom diminutive chatter rah rah most people would not cut down on their jpeg or attachment output daily if it meant having an artistic or global consciousness. its not clash of the titans so much as crackers not working as bookmarks
horn netty: “art cuts are good because it means less bad art and more day jobs and a better economy.” Actually, cuts in arts funding mean less day jobs for people in arts institutions, including theatres, galleries etc. If there’s no theatre there’s no janitor to clean it up, or person to man the bar, etc etc. Also, arts cuts mean siphoning money into jails and the military, since it’s not going to hospitals or educational institutions in Canada.
Fun comment to read but maybe lacking insight or genuine concern for the state of the arts in relation to politics.
dear guy
steven harper made me write it we were at the leafs game and he said ‘look, no artists’ then i said ‘what about the graphic designers for the ads?’ and he said ‘get out of my box!’
but what if you are an administrator at a terrible gallery and u hate the art but need the job. that is what i’m saying. or is it? i need to eat but my soul says this art is so great but its terrible. does that make me a bad person?
what if i worked on the subway instead and didn’t have to feel like i was exploting myself.
i’ll talk to stevie
art cuts also means less good art
but in america there is no money but art exists.
we are a bit spoiled.
the maple leafs are the most important artists in canada
