Aphorisms on Futurism (1914)

I am nearing completion of my candidacy papers. Today, after a pre-candidacy meeting with my cohort, I came home and wrote another five pages, pruned several pages back, and organized material for my prospectus meeting with my supervisor tomorrow. In two weeks I will be presenting two papers at this year’s Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences conference, one on Levinas and digital performance with ACCUTE, the other a joint paper co-written with Dr. Laura Moss for ACQL. I haven’t finished writing either of them. I anticipate the rest of the month will resemble today, sitting with my cat in my studio upstairs, poring over textual minutiae and comforting myself with Loy’s Aphorisms on Futurism: “May your egotism be so gigantic that you comprise mankind in your self-sympathy.”
