Executive Editor and Creative Director of the Steel Bananas Art Collective

fruitlet is home to the peripheral works, recent news, and musings of Canadian multidisciplinary artist and independent publisher Karen Correia Da Silva.

She currently lives in Vancouver, BC, where she is the Executive Editor and Creative Director of the Steel Bananas Art Collective, a PhD student in the Department of English at the University of British Columbia, and a resident scholar at Green College, a graduate community and centre for interdisciplinary scholarship. She received her Honours Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from York University, and her Master of Arts in Literatures of Modernity at Ryerson University in Toronto. She formerly worked in publishing as the Assistant Editor and Designer for Tightrope Books, and the Associate Editor of the literary journal Existere. In academia, she has worked as a researcher at York, Ryerson, and UBC, most recently as a Graduate Research Assistant and Research Mentor at the Modern Literature and Culture Research Centre in Toronto from 2010 to 2011. She continues to work and volunteer as an active member of the publishing and media production communities, while pursuing research connected with her work in the intersection between text and performance.

She is the author of the text and performance based works Fuck Irony (SB Publications, 2011), Manifesto for Neo-Harmonic Performance (SB Publications, 2011), and the co-editor of Gulch: An Assemblage of Poetry and Prose (Tightrope Books, 2009).
